MELISA - Multiplatform e-Publishing for Leisure and Interactive Sports Advertisement
The MELISA project aims at the cross-media broadcasting of sports events featuring interactive advertising and sports-related games over digital television and next generation mobile networks infrastructures. An end-to-end solution for the authoring and delivery of this new media content in real-time will be designed, developed and evaluated.
MELISA will furthermore provide the infrastructure necessary to process various transactions of the users related to sports broadcasts in real-time and the applications demonstrating the value of this service for personalised interactive advertisement, m-Commerce and wagering. The platform will provide services for optimal presentation of complex interactive real time video content, for advertisements and an advanced real-time gaming (betting) engine, all linked to the launch of related e-commerce transactions.
MELISA will make the most of state-of-the-art multimedia transmission technology to facilitate the provision of interactive multimedia content over heterogeneous transmission media and investigate the related user ergonomics, thus giving valuable insights regarding the use of new media in consumer electronics platforms. |

- Provision of enhanced content and statistics: In addition to game statistics and visual enhancements will provide a friendly, easily assimilated interface.
- Dynamic interactive content and advertisements: The MELISA system will enable the user to interact with the dynamic content transmitted, enhancing the user experience by providing further information on the game. In a similar manner, the user will be able to interact with hot spots within the streaming content providing additional information and a gateway for commerce transactions.
- Real-time wager placements: MELISA will facilitate wager placements on a real time basis as the game develops, thus enabling the user to a novel way to interact with one of the most popular pastimes of sports fans.
- The critical commerce applications to be provided by MELISA become possible through the potential offered by the interactive interface that will be developed during the project, taking into consideration user ergonomics and cognitive principles of human-computer interaction.
