SOUTH AFRICA'S NATIONAL LOTTERY INTRODUCES AN INNOVATIVE PROGRAMME UTILIZING INTRALOT' S G. T.

GIDANI (Pty) Ltd, in which INTRALOT’s subsidiary INTRALOT South Africa is an equity member, introduces the sales of LOTTO and LOTTO Plus Quick Pick through retailer POS systems.

After the successful launch of sales through Banking channels in July 2009, GIDANI continues its innovation programme to make National Lottery Products available through convenient sales channels. The company has partnered with several large retail groups to allow for LOTTO and LOTTO Plus Quick Pick to be sold through their supermarket till points. All Lottery ticket sales are sold via real time integration into INTRALOT’s LOTOSTM O/S central system and its B-On interactive platform with the same security features that regular National Lottery tickets have.

The first sales channel will give customer over 6,000 till points where they can purchase their favourite Quick Pick denomination, though more supermarket groups will begin selling through their till points in the near future.

Dr. Bongani Aug Khumalo, Chairman and Chief Executive of Gidani, said of the launch: “The deployment of this new innovation in the South African National Lottery makes us extremely proud. It is a result of the creativity, skills and industriousness of our employees working with the world-class combinations of technologies provided by our partner, INTRALOT. Very clearly we are remaking the Lottery world here.”

Mr. Constantinos Antonopoulos, INTRALOT Group CEO, added: “We are very pleased that South Africa’s National Lottery is continuously moving forward. Evolving steadily, it establishes itself in the international arena as a state-of-the-art lottery that offers its players unique gaming experiences and significant prizes, while at the same time it increases its contribution to Good causes.”

Dr. Yannis Rondiris, CEO of INTRALOT South Africa, commented: “INTRALOT, as the technology provider of GIDANI, supports and will continue to support the National Lottery of South Africa in all its endeavors to design, implement and operate advanced innovations that offer new exciting and convenient sales channels to players in the country”.

GIDANI undertook the operation of the National Lottery of South Africa in October 2007 following an international tender. GIDANI has promised and is currently leading the National Lottery of South Africa into a new era.
