O’Connell, first director of the Rhode Island Lottery, recipients of the award have distinguished themselves over a long period of time and have made important contributions in the lottery industry. The Award was presented to John Pittman at the PGRI SMART-Tech Conference in New York City.
“Major O’Connell personified integrity and dedication, attributes exemplified by the recipients of this award. Recipients are nominated and selected by their peers as a way of saying ‘thanks’ for all they have done to help our industry to grow and prosper” said Paul Jason, publisher of Public Gaming International Magazine.
John Pittman began his lottery career in 1977, when there were lotteries in just a handful of U.S. jurisdictions.
